Climate Concerns and Strategies

In 2023, Washington State passed a new law requiring all cities planning under the Growth Management Act to find ways to be resilient when facing the effects from climate change, such as wildfires, flooding, and extreme temperatures.

For our cities and towns, this means we need to figure out how a changing climate might impact the community and people’s homes and lives and come up with ways to prevent or reduce these impacts. Some examples are:

  • Helping people fix their homes to prepare for extreme weather
  • Supporting the use of electric cars, including installing charging stations
  • Creating hot and cold weather shelters
  • Preparing for an increase in droughts

The survey below is meant to get your opinions on these issues and find out what you think might help strengthen our community against extreme weather. It only takes about five minutes, and your answers will help shape these plans.

By filling out this survey, you’ll be entered into a drawing for prizes, including $25 Visa Gift Cards, a Bluetooth speaker, pop-up shade, and a Grand Prize of a Yeti cooler.
